Such an unreal experience!

The pyramid of Giza was huge, and standing next to it made me feel tiny! The Sphinx was even more impressive in person. I loved the pyramids, but the Egyptian museum was equally interesting. Seeing the mummies and treasures of the pharaohs was my favorite part. Such a unique feeling! The hotel transfers felt just like a well-organized tour by bus, making it easy to see Cairo in one day.

Amazing day trip that I will never forget

This tour exceeded my expectations! The great pyramids are even more amazing in person than in pictures. Walking near the Sphinx and seeing it all right in front of me felt surreal. Our guide was very friendly and explained everything clearly. I learned so much about ancient Egyptians, and the whole day felt well planned and not rushed. I also loved that I was picked up and dropped off at my hotel, so I literally didn’t have to think about anything!

Interesting facts about the Great Pyramid of Giza

  • The Great Pyramid is the only original Wonder of the Ancient World still standing.
  • Archaeological finds show that the builders were not slaves but skilled workers. They lived in purpose-built villages, were fed, and were paid for their work.
  • The Great Pyramid was originally 480 feet (146 meters) tall. It held the title of the tallest man-made structure for nearly 3,800 years. It was surpassed by Lincoln Cathedral in England in the 14th century.
  • The Great Pyramid is made of about 2.3 million stones. Many weigh over two tons, and some granite blocks reach 50 tons.
  • Each side of the pyramid aligns almost perfectly with the cardinal directions. This was done long before the compass was invented.
  • The pyramids were originally covered in smooth white limestone. They would have shone brightly in the desert sun.
  • The pyramids were more than tombs; they served as gateways to the afterlife. Hieroglyphs and offerings inside were designed to guide pharaohs to the afterlife.
  • Even in the hot desert, the interior of the pyramid stays around 68°F (20°C). This ancient design acts like natural air conditioning.
