Such a culturally rewarding experience
We were debating between this and a Nile River Cruise. We chose this because we already did a Red Sea cruise some years ago. We wanted a tour of Egypt with more history, and this was it! It was fascinating to see the ruins. The step pyramid was especially one-of-a-kind! I got dizzy thinking about how old it was. I also have to thank Dima, our lovely guide. I wouldn’t have understood anything without her! She really made the ruins come to life. This was definitely one of the better tour companies - wouldn’t have been the same without her.
The best part of my Egypt trip
I also visited the Luxor temples and the Valley of the Kings, and, honestly, this day tour was better. It was much better organized, with transportation picking us up right on the dot. Samaa was also extremely lovely and approachable. Also answered all my questions. Plus the sites themselves were just personally more interesting to me. Being somewhere that old is just so fascinating.. I try to imagine what life must have looked like then, what they wore, what they ate, etc. Samaa helped me out with that a lot! Highly recommend this tour.

SEE MEMPHIS’S FAMOUS NECROPOLIS: SAQQARA
Once we collect you from your accommodation, we’ll drive you to Saqqara - Memphis’s most famous necropolis. Here you’ll see mastabas (flat-roofed, rectangular Egyptian tombs) and several pyramids. This includes the ancient Step Pyramid of Djoser. As your guide will tell you, this pyramid is the world’s oldest complete stone building complex. So, it’s also the world’s oldest pyramid! It’s estimated to have been constructed between 2670 and 2650 BC. As you walk around it, you’ll notice its rough edges and comparatively small size. It’s six stories high, measuring 62.5 meters.
WANDER THE RUINS OF ANCIENT EGYPT’S CAPITAL
The next stop is Memphis proper. The ruins of this ancient capital are now an open-air museum. You’ll walk around with your guide as they explain the site’s history. For example, you’ll see the Colossal Statue of Ramesses II: a huge, 10-meter statue of the pharaoh Ramesses. Carved out of limestone, you’ll find it lying on its back. Your guide will also show you attractions like the remains of the Great Temple of Ptah. Memphis was under the protection of Ptah, the god of craftsmen, and had 4 temples in his honor. Your guide will point out all of them.
CONTINUE TO EGYPT’S GIZA PYRAMID COMPLEX
This tour also includes a visit to the Giza Plateau. Ancient Egypt’s three largest pyramids are the country’s most famous attraction! You'll view the Great Pyramid, the pyramid of Chefren, and the pyramid of Mykerinus. Your guide will also show you the Great Sphinx, a monumental structure with a lion’s body and human head. Finally, your last stop is the Valley Temple. This mortuary temple was built for King Chefren and his family members. It was where bodies were mummified, and where the pharaoh was purified before burial.

Did you know that Memphis used to have two colossal statues of Ramesses II?
As part of the Memphis Tour Egypt, you’ll see a 10-meter statue of Ramesses II in Memphis. This colossus was one of two that used to guard the eastern entrance to the temple of Ptah. The other statue stands at 11 meters. It was first displayed in Cairo’s Bab Al-Hadid square, which was later renamed Ramesses Square. However, the statue was exposed to constant vibration from traffic and corrosive pollution. It was removed, restored, and today is located at the entrance of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
