Great way to learn about ancient Egypt
The museum is huge, and I enjoyed exploring the ancient artifacts and statues. The statues, coins, and pottery really showed how cultures blended in ancient Egypt. I also loved the interactive digital displays. They helped me understand the rituals and daily life of the pharaohs. My favorite part was the view of the pyramids of Giza from the Grand Staircase Gallery. Such a memorable visit! It’s a must if you’re in Giza.
Had an amazing time in this museum!
I went with my two kids, and we all loved it! The Tutankhamun Gallery was the highlight for all of us. His sandals, bed, and golden coffin were incredible to see together. It was surreal to see his golden mask in person. Another showstopper was the Ramses II statue. My kids couldn’t get over how big it was. I also liked that we got to skip the line. This allowed us to have a more personalized experience and explore without hurrying.

Each theme is further divided into four historical periods. The first area is the Grand Hall, a glass-roofed atrium flooded with natural light. Here stands the 36-foot-tall (11-meter-tall) statue of Pharaoh Ramses II. It is a masterpiece, over 3,000 years old. The hall spans thousands of square meters. It offers a grand look at thousands of years of ancient Egyptian history.
KING TUT’S COLLECTION
Next, visit the Tutankhamun Gallery. Here, you'll see over 5,000 objects on display together for the first time. You’ll see his golden mask, jewel-encrusted sandals, ceremonial bed, chariots, and more. This is a rare chance to view King Tutankhamun’s full tomb collection in one place. You can also explore the Mummy Conservation Laboratory. Learn about preservation methods and see how modern technology helps to conserve them. The gallery is one of the 12 main halls in the museum that hold more than 100,000 ancient artifacts. Of these, 20,000 items are on public display for the first time. The artifacts on display span from prehistoric times to the 4th century AD.
EXPLORE HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE
Next, you can move on to explore the halls. They are filled with pottery, jewelry, tools, and ancient statues. Seeing these objects will show you how cultures blended in Egypt. Check out the Hanging Obelisk and the Grand Staircase Gallery. Explore interactive zones that show ancient rituals and how pyramids were built. The museum spans 500,000 square meters, which is about 70 soccer fields. This makes it the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization. Its pyramid-inspired design and translucent alabaster façade reflect the nearby great pyramids. End your visit at the museum library. It has rare manuscripts, digital archives, and ancient texts. Once you finish exploring, you will be picked up and taken back to your hotel. This wraps up your experience at the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The journey of Ramses II
The granite statue of Ramses II was moved from Cairo’s Ramses Square to the Grand Egyptian Museum. This 36-foot (11 meters) statue weighs 83 tons and is over 3,000 years old. Moving it took months of careful planning and precise work. Engineers had to lift it without causing cracks or damage. Roads were closed, and cranes lifted it piece by piece. Every step was closely monitored by workers. Now it stands proudly in the Grand Hall, welcoming visitors from around the world. Seeing it up close gives a sense of Ramses II’s power. It also shows the skill of ancient Egyptian builders who created it thousands of years ago.
